Scripture: John 3:1-16
There is not a more important doctrine in the Bible than the doctrine of salvation. John 3 records the story of Nicodemus, who had a one-on-one conversation with Jesus that contains one of the most famous phrases in all of the Bible--"born again". If you understand that term properly it is really a misnomer. It is a redundancy; a type of theological stuttering. If you are born again you are a Christian. If you are a Christian you are born again. In this message Dr. Merritt recounts the simple gospel that brings us life when, in Christ, we are born again.
"The new birth is not only a mystery that no person can understand; it is a miracle that no person can undertake. Listen carefully. Being born-again is not making a new start in life. It is receiving a new life to start with." --Dr. Merritt
