One of the greatest challenges in the church is unity. Not unanimity, where everyone agrees with everybody and everything. But a one-ness of heart, a similarity of purpose and an agreement on the basics of Bible doctrine and truth. Jesus so desired unity in the church that He prayed for us (John 17) and asked God to make us one so that others would know we were believers when they saw us together. In this message, Dr. Merritt explores the importance of unity in the church, and how to achieve harmony as we advocate God's great design for His followers to be united in thought, heart and mind.
"Conflict is usually a sign that the focus has shifted to less important issues, things the Bible calls disputable matters. When we focus on personalities, preferences, interpretations, styles, or methods, division always happens. But if we concentrate on loving each other and fulfilling God's purposes, harmony results." --Dr. Merritt
