The greatest place in all the world is not a location, but rather a state. Because the greatest place in all the world to be is in the center of the will of God. Most pastors are asked one question more than just about any other "How can I know the will of God for my life?" Many people think that finding God’s will is like playing hide and seek; like trying to hunt for small Easter eggs in tall grass. Well, let me give you some comfort today. You don’t find God’s will, God’s will finds you.
In truth, though, God is more anxious for us to know his will, than we are to find it. So it is not your responsibility to find the will of God, it is your responsibility to do the will of God. If God wants you to know his will, it’s His responsibility to reveal it; it’s just your responsibility to obey it. As Dr. Merritt explains, in Romans 12 we have God’s method on how we can know His will for our lives. We are going to learn that before we can know the will of God that we don’t know, we must do the will of God that we do know. Knowing and doing the will of God is the result of three sequential steps that Paul shares with us in this tremendous text.
"There is only one step to the will of God--the step of surrender. Now you cannot say to God, 'Tell me what you want me to do, then I’ll decide if I want to do it.' God only writes his will on a blank contract that you have already signed--with no fine print at the bottom. You must make a 'present' of yourself to God. Presentation must come before revelation; and therefore Paul goes into great detail to tell us exactly the kind of presentation we must offer and that God will accept. May I tell you quite frankly, if all you do with God is just believe in Him, God is not impressed. It is foolish to believe in God, and then not worship God, love God, serve God, trust God, and obey God." --Dr. Merritt
