Scriptures: John 6:25-35, John 6:48, Isaiah 55:1-3
Where do you look for satisfaction in life? Is it in possessions, or relationships, or power or prestige? True satisfaction can only be found in the Person of Jesus Christ. In this message, Dr. Merritt unpacks Jesus' statement, "I am the bread of life." You will learn that in a world that hungers for security, for significance and for satisfaction, the Bread of Life is the only Person who can truly satisfy.
"Jesus knew what He was doing when He compared himself to bread. You can travel to almost any country in the world and sit in any restaurant and there is one thing they are going to serve you and that is some type of bread. Not every restaurant serves steak, seafood, or my favorite vegetable—grits; but every restaurant serves bread. Bread is not a food that belongs to a particular region or a particular country. It comes in all shapes and sizes. In Mexico, it may be a tortilla. In New York, it may be a bagel. In the South, it may be a biscuit. Furthermore, bread is eaten by almost everyone every day. There are certain foods that are in season only at certain times of the year. There is certain seafood that is only available at certain times of the year. You only drink eggnog at Christmas. Almost every day almost everybody everywhere eats bread." --Dr. Merritt
