Scripture: Matthew 4:1-11, 1 Peter 5:8, 2 Corinthians 4:4, 1 John 3:8, Revelation 12:12, James 4:7
In this message we study one particular passage in the Bible that will help us understand how the devil wants to attack us and how we, in turn, cannot only defend ourselves, but actually defeat him. When you read it, it doesn’t actually seem like much, but when you really dig into it you will realize you are going to witness, up to this point, the greatest fight that has ever taken place between two individuals in the history of this world. In Matthew 4 we are introduced to the devil in the New Testament as he temps Jesus. Christ's response gives us the tools to recognize Satan's wickedness and to resist him.
"We have already learned how Satan operates. He wants you to surrender to his will for your life--not God’s Will. He wants you to obey his word--not God’s Word. He wants you to follow his way for your life--not God’s Way. Satan never gives up even though his number one target is Christ’s followers. His secondary target is unbelievers." --Dr. Merritt
