Today about 45% of adults are single--never married, divorced, widowed or separated. Yet, single adults make up only about 15% of the average evangelical church. In other words, churches are failing to reach a very significant part of the single community. There is an underlying assumption in some churches that it is “more Christian” to be married than it is to be single. The Bible says otherwise. In fact, God’s Word brings a dignity to being single that puts it on an equal status with those who are married. In this marriage, Dr. Merritt addresses the gift of singleness, and how single adults can live for God's glory in a unique and powerful way.
"Jesus was always constantly changing perceptions. To be 30 years old and single, as He was, was extremely unusual in His day. Being a single woman was not unusual, but being a single man was almost unheard of." --Dr. Merritt
