Scriptures: Exodus 20:12

Of all the Ten Commandments, the fifth is the only one that contains no negative warning whatsoever. It is a totally positive instruction. All of the other commandments tell us not to do something, but this one tells us simply to do something. It is the first command with a promise of a blessing if you obey it. Dr. Merritt's message on the fifth commandment talks primarily to parents, explaining how to instill honor and respect for moms and dads in their sons and daughters.
