There are still people who either don't believe in heaven, or don't care to go even if there is one. In this message, Dr. Merritt details why Christians believe in heaven, why they want to go to heaven, and the means by which we go to heaven. God's home is called heaven 550 times in the Bible. It is called a country, a kingdom, a city, and more importantly in this message, a home. Heaven is indeed the home of a godly family, because heaven is the home of God’s family. If you are a part of God’s family, don’t ever settle down in this world or get too comfortable in this world, for this world is not your home, you’re just a passin’ through.
In this precious passage, which is without a doubt one of the most famous and most beloved passages in all of the New Testament, Jesus talked more about heaven than in any other place in the gospels. He tells us not only why heaven is the home of a godly family, but how heaven can be the home of every family.
"There are two great questions about heaven that must be answered if heaven is going to be real and meaningful to you and me. The first question is: Is there a heaven? The second question is: How can I know there is a heaven? After all, what good is heaven, even if it is real, if there’s no way of knowing it is real? What good is it to think there is a heaven, when there really is not a heaven? The Lord Jesus lays out before us two things we need to understand about heaven. When I talk about heaven, I’m not talking about a mythical spiritual Disneyland that is more fiction than fact; I’m talking about a real place that is all fact and no fiction. Our faith is based on fact." --Dr. Merritt
