Scriptures: 1 Peter 1:13-21, 1:7, 4:13, 5:4, Hebrews 1:1-2, John 14:6
The mind is a wonderful and powerful gift from God. Peter understood the power of the mind and the importance of giving it proper "food for thought". In 1 Peter 1 he suggests thing we should be thinking through on a daily basis. These thoughts help us face trials, temptations and troubles that life brings. In this message, Dr. Merritt shares how to get your mental act together and fix your focus on things that are really important.
"I have learned that God is not interested in how high you can jump, but in how straight you walk after you hit the ground. The reason why we have got more of the world in the church than we do of the church in the world, is because of a lack of old fashion holiness. We’ve got churches today that have tons of great music, truckloads of dynamic communicators, and acres of beautiful buildings, but little holiness. The word holy means to be separate, set apart, reserved for a special purpose. That is exactly what we are to be. Our mouth, our mind, our money, our morals all belong to God. Therefore what you say, what you do, what you drink, where you go, what you read, who you associate with, belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ." --Dr. Merritt
