Scriptures: 1 Kings 19:1-18 Psalm 42:5, 121:1-2
We all have those days when we are “down in the dumps” and we just feel like it is going to be a bad day or you just wake up in a bad mood. Despair may begin this way, but it's much deeper. When those days turn into weeks and those weeks turn into months and that bad mood becomes quick-sand, you can’t get out ff then you are dealing with depression. Statistically about 1 out of 10 people are depressed--nearly 20 mission people in the United States. The vast majority of individuals at one time or another will deal with it. In this message, Dr. Merritt shares through the story of an Old Testament prophet where despair comes from, and how to recognize and conquer it.
"Depression is taking its toll in our nation. Businesses lose $51 billion dollars a year because of the results of depression, which either causes people not to work well or to miss work altogether. The average 30 year old American is 10 times more likely to be depressed than their fathers and 20 times more like to be depressed than their grandfathers. But you also need to know that if you are depressed, you are not ungodly." --Dr. Merritt
