When it comes to your family, storms are going to come. What matters when life gets difficult is what kind of foundation it's built on. The Bible tells us that hearing and doing the Word of God is like building our house on a strong and stable rock that can withstand the storms of life without failing. And the person who does this? The Bible calls that person "wise". In this message, Dr. Merritt teaches the importance of putting our homes on a solid foundation as we learn to love and to live the Bible's teachings.
"But it is not enough just to be hearing the Word of God. We must be heeding the Word of God. Jesus said the wise man was 'the one who hears these sayings of mine and does them.' Now James was in that crowd listening to that sermon, and he never forgot what Jesus said. Years later, writing in his book, he said in James 1:22, 'But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.' Now if you think about it, only a foolish man deceives himself." --Dr. Merritt
